We're excited to announce that both libraries have coffee available for patrons.  So grab a cuppa (or bring your own) and enjoy!

Library Catalog and Resources

The library materials and resources are now located inside the library catalog at www.mpcclibraries.notlong.com.   If you are looking for books, magazines, newspapers, eBooks, journal articles, databases, library hours, LibGuides, etc... you will find them at the link above.

You won't have to login to CampusWeb or link from the mpcc.edu home page.  You can just enter the URL above and login to the catalog.  To  access resources you must login.  Bookmark this page for easier access.

Students, your username is either your student ID card barcode # or student 5 digit ID #.  The password for all first time users is USERPASS and you will be prompted to change the password.  If this information won't log in, please contact the library at 308-535-3726 for North Platte and 308-345-8127 for McCook to check your account status.

Films on Demand and Intelecom Video trials

The library is running free trials from Intelecom and Films of Demand.  For login information please contact the library.  The trials will end the week of February 25th.  We will then decide which film company to go with and make a purchase within two weeks.

These companies provide educational videos in digital format that can be loaded to blackboard or shared with students.  They login numbers are unlimited.  The content is updated on a regular basis, so the newest and most up-to-date information is available.  They cover a wide range of topics and subjects.  To see if a subject is cover that you are interested in, please contact the library.

We are taking feedback for these tw,o companies' products to determine which company to buy from.  Please send feedback to walkert@mpcc.edu.

Library catalog

The CampusWeb links to the library have been updated to refer to the new library catalog link at www.mpcclibraries.notlong.com. Please visit the new library catalog and browse a bit.

For information and training on using the new library catalog, please call me or email me for assistance.  We are here to help patrons and faculty utilize our services as easily as possible.

We provide online databases of over 1,000,000 journal articles, over 45,000 ebooks, print books, DVDs, CDs, and more.

Catalog update

The library catalog has been upgraded by Agent-Verso and is now on the Iluminar platform.  This is a better, more user-friendly platform that allows patrons more access and input on materials.  The site is based on Adobe Flash so currently there is not a mobile site available.  However, we will be working to develop a mobile site in the near future.

The login for students is still the same for the time being:  USER NAME: student and PASSWORD: student. Faculty all have their own login that was sent out in an email before break.  (please call if you need help finding that information)

We are working to create individual logins for all patrons that will hopefully mimic the CampusWeb logins.  We are also working to move away from the CampusWeb setup.  Shortly, all links to the library, including the CampusWeb links, will take you directly to the new Iluminar catalog.  The library resources will all be available in once place - inside the catalog.

What are the benefits of this move?  Federated searching is now available.  This means performing one search, and getting results from all available materials, including databases.  No more guessing at which database you should use;  just use them all at one time!  You can make lists and save searches when logged in to an individual account.  You can also request materials and eventually share comments on materials.

Welcome to MPCC Libraries Blog

As the new Area Director for Learning Resources, I would like to say welcome to our first Blogger post.  We will be using our blog to post changes to the library, updates, questions for patrons, and other work related information sharing we feel might benefit our patrons.  If you have any questions or concerns about library materials or issues, please feel free to email them to the mpcclibraries@gmail.com address.
